Patong Girls Are Too Hot to Handle

Patong night life has something of an interesting reputation. For many, the main attraction of nightlife in Patong is the Patong girls, who are as lively as they are prominent. No matter how people try to gloss over the nightclub scene in Patong, you only need to take a stroll through Soi Bangla to get an idea what the place is about.

There has been some speculation that the local government has been trying to make Patong more family friendly, but it's difficult to envisage such an outcome if you look at the current state of Patong. It's no secret that a lot of people base their entire trips to Phuket around the Patong girls. It's easy to be critical of the whole scene in Patong, but it is what it is and these people do what they have to do to stay afloat.

It hasn't always been like this, though. Twenty years ago, Patong was nothing but mud tracks and beach huts. As one of the first major attractions in Phuket, development in Patong soon took on a life of its own. First came the guesthouses and hostels, followed by the throngs of backpackers and then came the more high-end resorts. All the while, though, there have been the Patong girls.

Many people are unhappy with the direction that Patong has taken. There is no denying that overdevelopment has left Patong a cluttered, uneven mess that is really struggling to stamp its identity in Phuket. Most tourists end up at Patong simply because it's the most visited place on the island, which is usually a surefire sign of somewhere discerning travelers will try and avoid.

Speak to most visitors to Phuket and they will tell you tales of woe experienced in Patong, often after being scammed by the Patong girls. Tricksters are everywhere in Patong. The nature of the place is that it tends to suck dry unsuspecting tourists, so it's best to have your wits about you while in Patong.

Bottom line is that you should not trust anybody. Even leaving money unattended in a hotel safe is not, well, safe. Street hawkers are everywhere and you'll be asked hundreds of times if you want to buy a suit. Remember that Patong is not an ideal place for picking up bargains.

In short, Patong is a fun place where you can get into some wild situations. If you plan on staying in Patong, you should beware that public transport is practically non-existent, so unless you rent some sort of transport, you won't really be able to get around that easily, confining your trip to the charms of Patong. One of the easiest way to get around is to rent a motorbike, but take care while driving at night as there have been a number of attacks on foreigners driving around Phuket.

All these problems aside, Patong is a serious party zone. There are cheap drinks and late nights to be had, which can be a lot of fun if you're in the right frame of mind.

Tips to Book Thailand Hotels at Cheap Prices

Thailand is a hotspot tourist destination that lies in Southeast Asia. It has several places of tourist interest, such as Bangkok, Pattaya, Koh Samui, Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Koh Phangan. Since there are so many things to do and places to see in this beautiful country, you need to spend at least a week here to enjoy your trip. In addition to these Thailand top destinations, one can enjoy a variety of local shows and events in Thailand while he or she is there. These include events such as Thailand fullmoon party, and many others that can be enjoyed while on a holiday in Thailand.

While making long vacation trips, the main concern of travelers is high hotel rates.

You can book Thailand hotels at affordable rates by following the below mentioned tips:

Online Booking

Thailand hotel booking can easily be done through online reservation portals. Booking early may help you get discounts. Early bookings also help you get the hotel as well as room of your choice. Hotels in Thailand give special discount to companies that offer online reservation and these companies pass on the same to their customers.

Free Services

While booking hotels and resorts in Thailand, you should pay attention to the complementary services offered by them, besides the room rates. Sometimes if you pay a little extra for the room rent, the deal may turn out to be cheaper if you get complementary services, such as free meals, free spa, or free use of gymnasium. The cost of these services is high and can add substantially to your cost of stay. Therefore, you should take into consideration the total cost before finalizing the deal. If the Thailand hotel that you want to book is not offering discount, you can request them to offer free services.

Off-Season

This is surely the most popular way to reduce your expenses on hotel stay. If you plan your holiday to Thailand during the off-season, you may get even the top hotels Thailand at cheap rates. The rainy season from July to October, is the lean tourist time in Thailand. You may even get discounts if you book Thailand hotels for weekdays, instead of weekends, when local tourists throng the places and the demand for hotels goes up drastically.

Package Deals

Package deals include the return airfares, hotel stay, sightseeing, and even meals sometimes. If you book a package, the overall cost of your trip will be quite lower than if you book your air tickets and Thailand hotels separately. However, in this case, you have to follow the itinerary of the package. Hence you need to check the package deal carefully before booking. Some package deals include only stay at hotel and meals. For example, if you are planning to stay at different places, such as Bangkok and Pattaya, during your visit to Thailand, you can get a discount by booking a package of a hotel chain. Customers who book Thailand hotels from the same group of hotels at different locations get good discounts.

Group Bookings

If you plan to go on vacation with your family and friends in a group, you can save money. If you book hotels in Thailand for a group, you may get great Thailand hotel lowest room rates for yourself.

A little planning can help you book Thailand hotels at affordable prices. If you are planning your vacation at the last moment, do not lose heart. You can still book hotels at cheap rates, as many online hotel reservation websites offer hotel bookings at low prices.

Thailand Visa Exemption Rule - Are You Qualified?

Some foreign nationals who would like to visit Thailand for a period not exceeding 30 days can enter the country without a visa provided that they hold a return ticket with them. This is referred to as the Visa Exemption Rule or Visa Exemption Scheme being implemented by the Thai Immigration. Thailand and some countries have certain diplomatic and bilateral agreements providing this visa exemption privilege to the citizens of the countries involved. Brazilians, Peruvians and South Koreans in particular can stay in Thailand for 90 days without a visa owing to their countries' special agreement with Thailand.

Currently, there are 41 countries and two Administrative Regions whose citizens can enter Thailand via this immigration privilege for the sole purpose of tourism.

Thai Marriage - Visa Application Inside Thailand

Ordinary expats in Thailand wishing to extend their stay in the kingdom may find it difficult fitting themselves in the various Thai visas offered by the Thai government. However, those who are married to Thai locals have got little to worry about.

Marriage Visa in Thailand

Immigration privileges are among the countless benefits of being married to a Thai.

A foreign spouse of a Thai national is entitled to apply for a Thai marriage visa aka Non Immigrant Category O visa. This particular Thai visa can be applied for immediately after marriage, subsequently allowing the foreign spouse a renewable yearly stay in Thailand. Fortunately, the process for the Thai Marriage Visa application is rather straightforward and the requirements are quite minimal.

The most important requirements when applying for a marriage visa to Thailand are; you are married to a Thai national and you or your Thai spouse is financially capable of supporting your stay in Thailand. To prove your on-going marital relationship with your Thai spouse, you have to show the original of your marriage certificate and have your Thai spouse accompany you when submitting the visa application as the visa officer will be interviewing her about your marriage. This is especially required when doing the visa application inside Thailand. On a positive note, medical certificate and police record are no more required when Thai Marriage Visa application is done in Thailand.

Financial Requirements

As far as the financial requirements for marriage visa in Thailand are concerned, there are two ways to meet them. One is to open a bank account, deposit 400,000 Baht into it and then wait for at least two months prior to making the Thai marriage visa application. The 2nd option is to show a proof of 40,000 Baht monthly /pension income. To do this, you need to obtain a pension/ employment letter stating your job or source of your pension and monthly income. This you bring to your embassy in Thailand for verification. Your embassy in turn will provide you an affidavit of income which you use for the visa application. In addition to this document, you may be required of your income tax and latest bank statements by the Visa officer. In case you don't qualify for the income requirement but your Thai spouse is, she can just as well handle the financial requirements. She just needs to present employment letter and income tax if she's employed and business registration certificate, balance sheet and business tax if she's self-employed.

Application Process

The actual application procedure is simple. An applicant who has 21 days left in his/her current visa can apply a 90 day visa initially then have this visa converted into One year Marriage visa before it expires. Those who have non immigrant Thai visa can proceed to visa conversion directly as soon as their visa is due to its expiration. You and your Thai spouse can go to the nearest Thai immigration with your documents to proceed with the visa application. Those who are not qualified to do the Marriage visa application in Thailand because of their invalid current visas can go to bordering countries to secure new entry visas and then apply marriage visa in Thailand as appropriate.

Summary

Obtaining the Thai marriage visa can be accomplished by following the guidelines outlined above. If you have yet to marry your Thai fiancee you should research the laws and procedures for Marriage Registration in Thailand for your respective nationality.

Phuket - A Tropical Wonderland

Phuket Island is famous for it beaches but it's more than just beaches. Thailand's largest island is a wonderland of wildlife and rainforests. I discovered a part of Phuket Island which is often overlooked by tourists, number of forest reserves and parks, along with exotic wildlife and beautiful waterfalls.

I spent a couple of days in Khao Phra Thaeo National Park located in the north of Phuket which is a triple canopy rainforest. It is the only remaining virgin rainforest on the island. It was a rare opportunity to watch a number of species of wild animal: langurs, barking deer, mouse deer, bears, wild boar, monkeys and gibbons. It was truly an amazing experience as the park conserves about one hundred species of birds which inhabit the forest vegetation, which consists of huge trees, creepers and climbers of every description. During rainy season hikes provide the best views of Ton Sai and Bang Pae waterfalls, with great sightings of resident wildlife such as flying foxes and slow Loris. The reserve has several forest trails for hiking and guides are easily available from the reserve office near Ton Sai waterfall.

Bangkok Red Light District Guide - Where to Go and Where to Stay

Bangkok Thailand has the craziest red light districts in the whole of Southeast Asia. Millions of visitors from all over the world have experienced the people, sights and sounds that permeate throughout Bangkok. It's an indescribable feeling and you'll only know what I'm talking about as soon as your feet hits the outside pavement of the airport.

It's obvious that most visitors who come to Bangkok are male. But because of the Thai people's laid back sensibilities they have no problems at all with gay or lesbian tourist who are now enjoying Bangkok's red light districts in droves.

The city of Bangkok has three distinct red light districts located relatively close to each other. These establishments sprang up and rapidly became popular during the early 1970's towards the end of the Vietnam war.

The first and oldest red light district is found on the Sois (or "Street" to us foreigners) of Patpong 1 and Patpong 2. Patpong 1 being the more popular Soi because that's also where you find the Night Market. Personally if you find something you have to have then bargain hard. Otherwise I'd save my money and shop at Chatuchak Weekend Market. Stuff sold at Patpong's Night Market are just way expensive. Surrounding the Night Market are the infamous go-go bars and ping pong sex shows that make Patpong so famous. The best hotels to stay in this area are the Montien Hotel, Silom Serene, Bally's Suite Silom and Siam Heritage Suites. None of these hotels are guest friendly however.

The next two red light districts are found running through Sukhumvit road. The names are Nana and Soi Cowboy. Nana intersects Sukhumvit road and after 7pm you'll find hordes of freelance prostitutes gathering outside the Nana Hotel parking lot at the entrance of Nana Entertainment Plaza. NEP is a 3 story building filled with the delights of sex and booze. Definitely a must visit.

Soi Cowboy is the smallest red light district but it packs a punch with establishments such as Long Bar and Rawhide. Those two go-go bars have been around for a while and still going strong.

Now most tourist who travel to Bangkok will most likely plan on bringing a companion back to their rooms. If that's you, then you should book a hotel that is "Guest Friendly Hotel". You may have heard of other terms such as girl friendly or no joiner fee hotels. Because if you don't stay in a guest friendly hotel, you will be charged a minimum of 500THB joiner fee by hotel management.

The majority of guest friendly hotels are found in Sukhumvit, conveniently between the red light districts of Nana and Soi Cowboy. Currently there are none in the Patpong area. However, taxis are cheap, so taking one back to your guest friendly hotel in Sukhumvit is definitely cheaper than paying the 500THB joiner fee.

For a more comprehensive review and list of guest friendly hotels in Bangkok please visit Guest Friendly Hotels [http://www.squidoo.com/girl-friendly-hotels-in-bangkok] in Sukhumvit for more information.

Thailand Lifestyle Tips - How to Live in Thailand on $600 a Month Or Less

Many travelers, vacationers or retirees have the erroneous belief that if they come to Thailand they'll have to fork out thousands of dollars a month to experience an ideal Thai lifestyle. However, they'd be mistaken. In actual fact you can live a great Thai lifestyle for a lot less than that...

For starters, pretty much everything in Thailand will cost you a LOT less than a similar lifestyle in Europe or USA might cost. But don't just take my word for it. Let these examples (in US$) prove it to you:

o You can enjoy superb high speed Internet (broadband) for under $30 a month.

o You can rent a lovely, 2 story home with huge garden for around about $150 a month (depending where you live of course. Some areas more expensive, and some a lot less!)

o You can go out at night and tantalize your taste buds with a 3 or 4 course Thai dinner for about $15 (depending what you eat of course!)

o Alternatively you can 'eat in' and still eat really well (feel full to the brim after) for a mere $3 (and that's pushing it!)

o You can buy your own zippy little 115 cc Honda or Yamaha automatic motorbike (scooter) for about $1000 - or snap up a used bike for half that. (If you want to brave motorcycle taxis - it'll be anywhere from $1-$15 per trip).

o And as for general living costs, you'd stay right on top of things for about $6-10 a day...

Anyway, I'm sure you get the idea. As you can see, you can live a pretty comfortable Thai lifestyle for a lot less than $600 a month. Even more so if you budget your expenses carefully. Of course, you could just as easily fork out $6000 or $60,000 a month too, if you felt so inclined! So what are you waiting for?

Retire in Thailand - Affordable Retirement in Paradise

Thailand is a favorite retirement location for many westerners and retirees from other parts of the world. Not only is it affordable but it offers so much to the adventurous soul who seeks a place to retire. Thailand has so much beauty everywhere and so many exciting places to visit.

The Most Popular Thailand Retirement Locations Are:

  • Bangkok

  • Pattaya

  • Phuket

  • Chiang Mai

  • South Of Thailand

....that's not all...Retirees also choose other locations in Thailand like: North East Thailand 'Isaan', Chiang Rai, Udon Thani, Nong Khai, Khon Kaen, Hua Hin or some of the beautiful Islands in the south of Thailand.

Phuket, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao are just a few of the beautiful islands in the south of Thailand with some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. If you don't want to live on an island it is nice to have the option of visiting an island for a few days or weeks.

Visiting Thailand for a longer stay before retiring in Thailand is a good way to find out if this is the Paradise for you. Some people come to Thailand for 6 moths to one year to find out if they want to retire in Thailand and find the area of Thailand they like.

There are things about Thailand that may be a little difficult for some to live with. The Thai Visa requirements are confusing but need to be understood. A foreigner can own a condominium in Thailand but not land. As a foreigner you will always be a foreigner.

Thai people treat everyone with respect yet they will always refer to you as farang -foreigner- which is not meant to insult you but it is deeply engrained in Thai people and it is the way they refer to white people.

The list of good things about Thailand is seemingly endless and outweigh the 'negative'. Thai people are one of the most sociable nations on the planet and have an extremely carefree attitude. They love to joke, have fun and eat delicious food.

So, to sum it all up: If you like to see beautiful things and places, have fun, you are laid back, you like to eat delicious and exotic dishes and you would like to have all of that for pennies on the dollar....you may want to consider Thailand as a retirement location.

How Much Money Do You Need In Thailand?

The answer is; how long is a piece of string? There are people who can live very comfortable for well under $ 1,000 a month and then you have people who think $ 5,000 is bare minimum.

There are people who pay $ 100 a month rent for an apartment and are happy and then there are people who own a one million dollar condo and are happy or still think they could have done better.
